Astrocartography and other branches
Does a chart change if I move to another city?
Astrocartography
Developed by Jim Lewis in the 1970s, astrocartography draws your birth chart onto a world map. For each planet it draws four lines: where that planet was rising, setting, overhead (MC) or underfoot (IC) at the moment you were born. Living near a planet's line is said to bring its themes forward: near a Venus line, love and comfort; near a Saturn line, hard work and responsibility; near a Jupiter line, growth and luck.
Planetary linesSun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and the nodes, four lines each.
ParansLatitudes where two planets were on angles at the same time, read as shared influence along that whole latitude.
Relocated chartYour birth moment recast for a new city: planets keep their signs, but the houses and angles shift.
Local SpaceMichael Erlewine's method: planets drawn as compass directions from where you live, used even for arranging a home.
