KP astrology (Krishnamurti Paddhati)

What is the system that splits nakshatras into "subs"?

K. S. Krishnamurti (1908–1972) built a system designed for precise yes/no answers and event timing. It keeps the sidereal zodiac (with its own KP ayanamsha) and the Vimshottari dasha, but changes how houses are drawn and how planets are judged.

Its core ideas

Placidus housesHouses are cut at exact degrees (cusps) using the Placidus system, so houses can be unequal and a sign can hold two cusps or none.
Star lordA planet gives the results of the planet whose nakshatra it sits in. The nakshatra lord matters more than the sign lord.
Sub lordEach nakshatra is split into nine unequal "subs" in the Vimshottari proportions. The sub lord decides whether the promise is good or bad, yes or no.
Sub-sub lordA further split for even finer judgment.
Cuspal sub lordThe sub lord of each house's cusp. It decides whether that house's matter will happen: the 7th cusp sub lord for marriage, the 10th for a job.
SignificatorsPlanets ranked by how strongly they signify a house: planets in the star of its occupants, the occupants, planets in the star of its lord, then the lord.
Ruling planetsThe planets ruling the moment of judgment (the day lord, the Moon's sign, star and sub lords, the rising sign's lords). They pick out which significators will act.
249 numbersThe zodiac holds 249 subs, so KP horary asks the person to pick a number from 1 to 249, and the chart is cast from that sub.

House groups for events

KP judges an event by the houses its significators link: for example a job by the 2nd, 6th, 10th and 11th; marriage by the 2nd, 7th and 11th; a loss or separation by the 6th, 8th and 12th. Timing comes from the dasha, sub-period and transit of the significators.

a postal address. The sign is the city, the nakshatra the street, and the sub the house number. KP insists you read the house number before deciding.
