Special points and karakas

What does an advanced reading add?

Advanced astrology, especially the Jaimini school, uses a second way of naming planets. The chara karakas ("moving significators") are chosen by how far each planet has travelled through its own sign. The planet at the highest degree becomes the Atmakaraka, your soul planet; the lowest becomes the Darakaraka, your partner planet; the others fill the roles in between.

An example chart: seven planets ranked by degree, and the role each one gets.
AtmakarakaThe soul planet (highest degree): your main life lesson.
AmatyakarakaThe adviser planet: career and how you work.
BhratrikarakaSiblings and courage.
MatrikarakaMother and nurturing.
PutrakarakaChildren and creativity.
GnatikarakaRivals, obstacles and relatives.
DarakarakaThe partner planet (lowest degree): the kind of spouse you draw.
PitrikarakaFather, in the eight-karaka version that counts Rahu too.
Arudha LagnaYour image: how the world sees you, as opposed to who you are.
Upapada LagnaA point read for marriage and the spouse.

your soul planet and partner planet are explained in the Full report + AI.
